London Fat Duck in Singapore

Day 2 in Singapore! Dot and I were scrambling to get our plans together. I of course had nothing planned but since my mom asked for Irvin’s Salted Egg Fish skin, we built our schedule around Vivo City. It was a shame that by the time we got there, they had already run out of fish skin chips. Instead we made the most of our trip too Vivo City.

Dot went through the list of restaurants in Vivo City. Her first suggestion was a restaurant called London Fat Duck, which specializes in roast duck. She mentioned that it’s a Hong Kong style restaurant and is an up and coming chain in Singapore. They already have 3 branches and are opening a couple more within the year. Honestly, she had me at the mention of roast duck.

Signature London roast duck

We couldn’t decide on what to order so we ended up ordering everything! We had the roasted pork belly, bbq pork with honey sauce or what we call asado and half a signature London roast duck! That’s a lot for 2 people. Of course we had a bowl of steamed rice each. We also ordered a pot of flower tea to go with our meal. It consists of sakura flower, jasmine, lavender, chrysanthemum, rose, chamomile, globe amaranth and redartful.

There were still so many things I wanted to try on the menu like the crispy London duck snow bun. They have a whole line of Hong Kong dim sum items like pan-fried radish cake, shrimp in beancurd skin fitters, har kao, siew mai, steamed pork ribs with black bean sauce and more.

Some other specialty items are the braised London duck wing, braised London duck tongue, home-made braised beancurd and marinated pig ear. Definitely coming back to try these.

Also available are Hongkong noodles and congee with different kinds of topings, rice bowls with roasting items or a combination of the roastings. There are also sesonal vegetable options and desserts but could not have any more as we were both so full.

London Fat Duck uses Irish ducks, which are famous for their quality and are called the “Wagyu of ducks.” The duck was good, tasty and had a fatty layer indeed. I think the skin could have been a bit more crispy but it was still good nonetheless.
